We will never sell your data.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with data brokers, advertisers or any third party for their own marketing. Not now, not later, not for any price. The only people who ever see your details are us and the small set of service providers listed in section 4 who help us run the business.
BaskingPaws is a cat-only in-home pet sitting business operating in Somerset County, New Jersey, serving Basking Ridge, Warren, Bernardsville, Gillette and Bedminster. In this policy, “we,” “us” and “our” mean BaskingPaws. “You” means anyone who visits this website, submits a form, creates an account or books our services.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to baskingpaws.com and to the services we provide.
We only collect what we actually need to care for your cat and run the business.
Information you give us directly

What we do not collect
We never sell or rent your personal information. Full stop.
We share limited information with a small number of service providers who help us operate, and only the information each one needs to do its job. They are contractually restricted from using your information for their own purposes.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it — a valid subpoena, court order or legal obligation — or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to protect the safety of a person or an animal. If our business is ever sold or transferred, client information may transfer with it, and we will tell you before that happens so you can delete your information if you'd rather not come along.
When you submit a form on this site, you are signing up to receive marketing and promotional email from us — things like seasonal availability, holiday booking reminders, service updates and offers. This is disclosed on the form itself, directly above the submit button.
You can stop these at any time. Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and you can also unsubscribe here or simply reply and ask. We'll process it promptly and in no case later than ten business days. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop messages about a booking you've actually made — you'll still get visit updates, confirmations and anything about your cat's care.
Text messages
Messages about your request or your booking — replying to your inquiry, confirming a visit, telling you about something concerning your cat — are part of providing the service and are covered by your submission.
Promotional texts are separate and entirely optional. We only send them if you check the specific box for them on the form. That box is never pre-checked, and declining it has no effect on your ability to book or on the price you pay. If you do opt in, message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies, and you can stop at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help.
We keep a record of when and how you gave consent, and we honor withdrawal of consent promptly.
Payments are handled by a PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor. When you save a card for future bookings, your card details are sent directly to that processor and stored on their systems. We never receive, see or store your full card number, CVV or expiry date. What we can see is limited to the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry month — enough to show you which card is on file and nothing more.
You can remove a saved card from your account at any time. Removing it doesn't cancel bookings you've already made; it just means we'll ask you for a payment method next time.
This site uses only what it needs to function — for example, keeping you signed in to your client account. We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to track you across other websites from here.
We do count how many different people visit our home page each week, because it is the only way to know whether anyone is finding us. Here is exactly how that works, and what it is not:
Because this uses no cookies, collects nothing that identifies you, and respects your browser's privacy signals, there is no consent banner to click through.
We take your home access details seriously — they're the most sensitive thing you give us. Access codes and key information are kept restricted to the sitter assigned to your home and are not shared more widely. Account passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. This site is served over an encrypted connection.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by New Jersey law.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it. Email us and we'll take care of it — we won't make you jump through hoops, and we won't treat you differently for asking.
New Jersey residents have rights under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data and certain profiling. We don't sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising at all, so there's nothing to opt out of on those points — but the right to access, correct and delete is fully available to you. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and you may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
California residents have comparable rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing. Again: we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined.
Our services are for adults. This site isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email.
